The mission of The Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks Bikes for Youth Program is to provide bikes and safety equipment (helmets and locks) for at-risk youths in the local community to help give them a mode of transportation to get to and from school, activities and part-time jobs.
Our program works in coordination with local organizations such as the Safe Passage Youth Foundation and Conejo Recreation and Park District’s Teen Center to identify teens in need who are facing critical life challenges such as financial and food insecurity, divorce, bullying, homelessness, family illness, isolation, overcrowded living conditions or lack of access to on-demand transportation.
The “Bikes for Youth” program needs your help!
The gift of a bike will help to improve a teen’s confidence, self-worth, and chance to succeed. Knowing that the bikes were donated by caring members in the community reinforces in them a sense of belonging and being supported.
Please consider donating your gently used bike to needy youth. Bikes should be adult-sized, suitable for youth ages 12 to 17 years old, 24" or 26” wheel, ten-speed or mountain bikes, for boys or girls, in good working order, sturdy and safe. Helmets, wheels, tires, bike locks, etc. are also needed.
For questions or if you have a bike to donate, please contact Mary Sepe at (805) 402-8753 or marysepe88@gmail.com. We can arrange to pick up of bike at your convenience. A tax donation receipt can also be provided.
Help provide bikes and safety equipment (helmets and locks) for at-risk youths in the local community to help give them a mode of transportation to get to and from school, activities, and part-time jobs.
